Uutta matskua / New Shit
Helou!

In english:

It's been quite a while since the last update. We're sorry, it's kind of hard to update the site because of all the studying and working (especially as a combo!)

There is also some good news though. As me and Simo have been working on our thesis's, Janne, Hene and Tuomas have written some new stuff (riffs and billets)! And as we're getting a new firewire mixer we can record all the future jam sessions! Yay!

We'll be in touch with you guys as soon as the NEW STUFF is somewhat ready or so. And sorry about my bad english, a bit of rust here and there.

New band from my camp
As promised in the earlier blog, here's the new band "Underfield" I started with my 14-year-old cousin Vilma Ala-aho. Underfield is influenced by many different pop music styles and female fronted rock such as The Gathering.

Check out our myspace-site here including free mp3's

Remember also to watch new RM live videos! Henri did a good job editing 'em.

Gig at Nuclear Nightclub & other news
Thanks for all the fans who came to see us last weeks friday on our gig at Nuclear Nightclub! It was indeed a special evening and easily one of the strongest gigs we've ever done. We loved playing some unheard material like "Moment in Nowhere" from the debut EP. Some decent-quality live videos should be up soon!

I've been also working with some other bands in the past months, some of the albums are out now:

"Koalia", great British style poprockband, I played keys on their newest album

http://www.myspace.com/koaliaband

"Knockout Cocktail", 80's style rock with good attitude, played keys on their new album aswell

http://www.myspace.com/knockoutcocktail

The newest band I've started is actually with my cousin who's a 14-year-old highly talented singer. I can promise you'll hear more about this project in the near future! Music will be in pop/ rock/ r'n'b- style.

Some surprising things will happen also in the future of RM; stay tuned!

Gig at Oulu Finlandia
Thanks for all the fans for being so wild at our gig! New songs seemed to work quite nicely for the audience! Some live videos can be seen on youtube here: http://www.youtube.com/user/Tuppos

See you on our next going-to-be-sold-out-gig 8.1.2010 at Nuclear Nightclub, Oulu. I can promise we'll have some very special and bonus song choices there!

Thoughts
Wow, finally! Finishing the EP on Friday 13th suits this case well. It's amazing to see the new songs on our homepages and myspace-site (CD's on the way too!). Wheels behind Random Mullet are like a slow-motion film; sluggish but workable. If I rounded up the numbers a bit, I'd say that our song-making-rate is one song a year as this project took over 2 years since "Infection" was finished. During these 2 years I've studied medicine like hell, recorded keyboards for 3 full-length albums (Knockout Coctail's new album coming soon!), played dozens of variable quality gigs and also puked in a coctail glass at Henri's apartment, which actually gave a working title to one of the songs, thanks to these so-called bandmates.

The whole truth is, though, that we started making these songs in the fall of 2008. We got an idea about Janne & Henri doing one new song and one song's composing duties were held for me and Tuomas. Third song, "Asshats" is actually a mostly renewed version from our old "hit" which was made back in 2005.
We had a small break of gigs in the darkest wintertime and concentrated on composing, arranging and recording the songs. It was great to see the songs evolving during the process and the gigs we did on the summer of 2009 also developed 'em. Ain't it easier to realize that your ideas suck in front of an audience compared to noticing 'em on a finished CD? Well, both options are probably crappy. Outcome is, luckily, the most important thing here and with this EP the future of Random Mullet seems brighter than ever! (Had to add one more cliché here..)

Dig the songs and see ya on our gigs! (yet another one..)

ps. I've already started composing a brand new track, a bit more serene and calm but still having the same weird atmosphere as always with RM.
