Wow, finally! Finishing the EP on Friday 13th suits this case well. It's amazing to see the new songs on our homepages and myspace-site (CD's on the way too!). Wheels behind Random Mullet are like a slow-motion film; sluggish but workable. If I rounded up the numbers a bit, I'd say that our song-making-rate is one song a year as this project took over 2 years since "Infection" was finished. During these 2 years I've studied medicine like hell, recorded keyboards for 3 full-length albums (Knockout Coctail's new album coming soon!), played dozens of variable quality gigs and also puked in a coctail glass at Henri's apartment, which actually gave a working title to one of the songs, thanks to these so-called bandmates.
The whole truth is, though, that we started making these songs in the fall of 2008. We got an idea about Janne & Henri doing one new song and one song's composing duties were held for me and Tuomas. Third song, "Asshats" is actually a mostly renewed version from our old "hit" which was made back in 2005.
We had a small break of gigs in the darkest wintertime and concentrated on composing, arranging and recording the songs. It was great to see the songs evolving during the process and the gigs we did on the summer of 2009 also developed 'em. Ain't it easier to realize that your ideas suck in front of an audience compared to noticing 'em on a finished CD? Well, both options are probably crappy. Outcome is, luckily, the most important thing here and with this EP the future of Random Mullet seems brighter than ever! (Had to add one more cliché here..)
Dig the songs and see ya on our gigs! (yet another one..)
ps. I've already started composing a brand new track, a bit more serene and calm but still having the same weird atmosphere as always with RM.
